Can a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Help With a Wide Nose?

Posted on by Dr. Richard Rival

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can smooth out a lot of imperfections. The idea of getting single or multiple injections in the place of surgical plastic surgery is an enticing one, even if that injection won’t give permanent results.

Many looking at injectable fillers for a non-surgical rhinoplasty in Toronto, Canada, or worldwide may wonder: can dermal fillers or a “liquid rhinoplasty” be of any help in giving the appearance of a less wide nose?

What is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

For those unfamiliar with the process, non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to smooth wrinkles and bumps. An “injectable rhinoplasty” involves fillers such as Radiesse or Restylane to even out imperfections. These procedures have become popular in Toronto and the world due to the low amount of recovery time, no side effects from surgery and a lower cost than a surgical procedure.

Again, non-surgical rhinoplasty is non-permanent and is all about aesthetic changes to the nose and minimizing small irregularities in the nose’s appearance. However, this lack of permanence is a fair trade-off for a 15 minute to hour out-patient procedure.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty for Wide Nose Rhinoplasty

So can you use non-surgical rhinoplasty to address the cosmetic concerns of having a wide nose?

Injections can add more volume to a nose to reduce the appearance of large bumps but can’t do anything about reducing the size of a nasal hump or the nose itself. If you want a permanently thinner-looking nose, you will need to opt for a surgical rhinoplasty to minimize a wide nose’s appearance.

Also, non-surgical rhinoplasty using dermal fillers won’t make an impact when fixing a crooked nose. A crooked nose may require surgical intervention.

That said, it’s easier to judge on a case-by-case basis whether non-surgical rhinoplasty is the right choice.

But how does this differ for both male and female rhinoplasty?

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty for a Male Nose Job

For many male patients seeking rhinoplasty, the intent is to create a more “masculine” looking profile that matches their facial features.

For this reason, a male nose job often involves the creation of a more prominent bridge, making the bridge of the nose higher or broader. Male rhinoplasty also tries to increase tip projection. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can help in this case, as a facial plastic surgeon or a trusted medical spa can add volume to these specific areas of the nose.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty For Women

Compared to men, many women look for rhinoplasty, resulting in a softer-looking bridge and nasal tip, compared to the more prominent features favoured by men.

Because of this, non-surgical rhinoplasty can smooth out bumps on the bridge but can’t provide a solution for a significant reduction of the bridge’s size or nose as a whole.

How Would I Look After a Nose Job? Using Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty as a Test Run

In some cases, the non-permanence of non-surgical rhinoplasty can be a benefit to the procedure. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can often serve as a “test run” before a patient commits to a more permanent solution. A non-surgical rhinoplasty can provide a physical example to you before you commit to long-lasting changes.

However, this benefit is made someone obsolete by advancements in computer imaging. Now, we can show patients a close indicator of what their nose will look like before the rhinoplasty procedure is completed.

We have our own unique iPhone App that lets you see exactly how you’d look after a specific rhinoplasty procedure. Using the app gives you an option to see your desired results without even needing to pop in for an appointment.
